| From “Super Girls” in 2005,which set off a wave of talent shows throughout China,to “Idol Producer” in 2018,which was broadcast in a new form.The mass entertainment culture of China has become more vigorous and viable through the change of the entertainment system in the era of traditional media and the continuous development of the new entertainment industry in the era of mobile Internet.Meanwhile,the new fan culture is also growing under the gestation of a new generation of fans.In this study,the methods of network ethnography,in-depth interview and grounded theory,questionnaire survey and other methods were used to investigate the fan participatory behaviors in two phenomenon-representative talent shows,“Super Girls”(2005)and “Idol Producer”(2018).Based on the theory of participatory culture,virtual community and Fisk’s media culture,this paper discusses the changes and problems of fan culture from the perspective of media technology and the measures to guide the healthy development of fan culture.The first chapter describes the background and significance of the research and summarizes the literature.The second chapter defines some related concepts,combines the theoretical basis and puts forward questions.In third chapter,the methods of in-depth interviews and online ethnography are used to understand the behavior issues of the fan group from "Super Girls"(2005),such as support behaviors and production behaviors.The questionnaire survey method is used to the investigate demographic and behaviors of the fan group from "Idol Producer"(2018),in the end of this chapter deferent cultures from two groups are discussed;The fourth chapter studies the changing path of Chinese local fan culture and the new characteristics and forms of fan groups and their culture under the development of new media technology.The fifth chapter proffers feasible guiding measures with reflection on the present situation of fan culture.The last chapter summarizes the conclusions of this study,discusses the limitations of this study and prospects for the following research.This research mainly draw the following conclusion: In the transformation and development of media technology,fan culture has evolved into a participatory culture,and a large-scale,institutionalized and welfare network fan community has been built.The combination of media technologies,the engagement depth and role transformation,professionalism upgrade and economic growth empower the fans and meanwhile incorporate ideology of the mainstream culture and resist and counter-incorporate the commercial incorporation,fans group has become a group of highly cultural productivity and highly advanced culture capital and keeps seeking to maintain a dynamic balance with the mainstream culture.However,under the media technology,the fan community produces the polarization of rights within the community and apparent segmentation,which also bring the problems,such as rejection,collective silence among idol groups and the mass confusion among fans. |
