After World War ?,Germany was occupied by the four regions of the United States,Britain,France,and the Soviet Union,and military control was implemented.At the same time,Germany was democratized and implemented with de-Nazification,non-industrialization,and re-education policies.The United States has also carried out comprehensive reconstruction and reconstruction of Germany in accordance with these policies in the occupied zone.In terms of journalism,the military regulatory government has specifically established the Information Control Division to exercise military control over all mass media in the US occupied zone.At the same time,in the fields of newspapers,radio,books and other news media,non-Nazification and re-education activities aimed at eliminating Nazi ideas and cultivating democratic ideas have begun.The Information Control Division has comprehensively reformed journalism in the U.S.in aspects such as the qualifications and training of journalists' employment background,the selection of news propaganda content,the establishment of news agencies and the introduction of American cultural works,etc.Established a basic news system.With the tension in US-Soviet relations,U.S.policy on Germany has also begun to change.The United States' policy toward Germany has begun to ease,and it has shifted to reconstruction and support,with the aim of turning Germany into a leading position in the Cold War with the Soviet Union.Through the Marshall Plan,Germany received US economic aid and began to embark on the road to recovery.The Information Control Division,as a subsidiary of U.S.military control government,has also made corresponding changes.It was renamed the Information Services Division,and its main functions have been adjusted accordingly to assist Germany in developing journalism.control.By establishing a library,inviting German journalists to study in the United States,and initiating exchanges between German and German journalists,the United States has continued to infiltrate German culture and capitalist liberal and democratic ideas into Germany.Although the regulation and reconstruction of journalism is only one aspect of post-war American policy toward Germany,it still played an important role,completing the de-Nazification of journalism and the construction of a capitalist journalism system,which contributed to the development of journalism in West Germany.Laid a good foundation.At the same time,it has been able to attract West Germany,eliminate the anti-American sentiment of the German people,and provide assistance for the United States' overall strategy in Western Europe.This article explores the role of the United States in post-war German journalism and the impact of the Cold War on journalism policy through the analysis and research of the Information Control Division and the Information Service Division,two official agencies responsible for information control and reconstruction in U.S.occupied zone.
