A Study Of Pragmatic Strategies In Modern Chinese Apology

Apology speech acts in social life as a compensatory behavior to make up for individual negligence,it has been paid much attention to in the field of pragmatics.With the development of pragmatic theories such as the principle of cooperation and politeness in speech act theory,the apology speech is defined and analyzed on the basis of previous research results.By revealing the problems in the application of apology discourse in modern Chinese and identifying the causes of the problems,I hope to provide theoretical support for apologies and other speech acts,and better adjust the relationship between people in social practice.The words of apology are behavioral,two way,and strategic.They are divided into three types:cooperative,polite and face.The notes of cooperative apology include:grasp the timing of apology,choose the occasion of apology,and abide by the principle of quantity.The strategies that can be used are mainly to express apologies,state the facts,acknowledge their responsibilities,and explain using fixed words.The process and expressions of polite apology can be implemented by using polite markers,expressing compensatory psychology,making commitments,expressing concern,and praising strategies.The apology function is summarized,and the pragmatic strategies of face type apology are mainly invisible apology,humorous strategies,self-derogation or punishment,and attention to intonation.Finally,the analysis of the pragmatic motivations of the apology discourse strategy is mainly based on the pragmatic purpose of the speaker and the contextual needs of the listener,and adapt to the language contexts.
