A Practice Report On Escort Interpreting For A Children's Basketball Course By A Foreign Coach

This practice report takes as a subject of study an escort interpretation for a foreign coach's basketball course for Chinese kids 8 to 10 years old.By making its analysis from the perspective of the eco-translatology,combined with the three-dimensional transformation,it aims to explore how to achieve communicative purpose based on the transformation of language and cultural dimensions in escort interpretation.To this end,the interpreting task and process of this practice are described in the first place,and then the three-dimensional transformation put forth by the eco-translatology is brought out in terms of its guiding function for oral interpretation.The report adopts case analysis as the main form of research.The basketball interpreting skills corresponding to both of the two transformations of language and cultural dimensions are illustrated respectively at the levels of words and sentences.When it comes to the transformation of the communicative dimension,the basketball interpreting skills should be subject to achieving the communicative purpose of meaning transference and audience service.The report demonstrates that the translation principle of “multidimensional adaptation and adaptive selectivity”maintained by the eco-translatology lends itself to oral interpretation and the translation method of three-dimensional transformation provides a suitable operation paradigm for interpreting.An interpreter,guided by it,should grope further and hammer away at the concrete and effective interpreting skills while fulfilling a task.
