In the academic circle, there are two kinds of division of Taisho's democratic era in the narrow sense and the broad sense: in the narrow sense,it only refers to the reign of emperor Taisho, namely the short period of 15 years from 1912 to 1926;In the broad sense,it refers to the period from the Russo-Japanese war, which took place at the end of the Meiji period,to the "Manchurian incident"(" 918 incident ")in the early years of Showa, which was from 1905 to 1931.This thesis adopts the general division method of Japanese historians after the second world war, which is the broad division, and selects the 27 years from 1905 to 1931 as the research period to discuss the social status of Japanese women during this period. The period of Taisho's democracy was a period of prosperity for Japan's development and reform. The continuous deepening of reform in Japan led to great progress in politics, economy, education and many other aspects, and social civilization also had a significant improvement in this period. On this basis, the Western values was current in this period, such as freedom, equality and so on.Meanwhile Japanese women got more attention, and some people with breadth of vision realized that women should have more rights and higher social status. So they adopted so many methods to propagate women's status improving, such as writing articles, forming the academic community. These also meant the beginning of the Women's movement in Taisho democracy period. At the same time, the Japanese government attached more importance to the role of women in the country's prosperity and social stability,so they gradually carried out education for women, which greatly improved the education level of women. In addition, with the acceleration of the modernization process in Japan, the social structure began to change, and many new industries emerged successively.Under this circumstance, professional women in society was arising, and these changes marked women were widely involved in the work of all walks of life, and their social attributes were gradually enhanced, and their status was also improved. In general, this thesis guides by the Marxism-Leninism,and insists on the dialectical materialism and historical materialism. In addition, this thesis uses a variety of research methods such as history, pedagogy, sociology and women learn multidisciplinary. What's more, the author writes the article on the basis of Taisho period of newspapers and magazines to analysis of the development of women's survival environment and space. This thesis breaks down into four parts to undertake a comprehensive study on the change of women's status in the Taisho's democracy period. In the first chapter, this thesis traces the change of women's status in the democratic period. With the deepening of Meiji restoration in Japan,Japan gradually broke the shackles of feudal thoughts, and the modern family values were established. At this time, all walks of life in Japan noticed the important role of women in the stability of the country, and they took actions to publicize the modern concept of women,in order to accelerate the modernization transformation of women, and arouse wide response in the society. For example, the Japanese government set up the concept of "good wife and good mother" and carried out modern education for women to make them better serve the country.Members of Ming six club represented by Yukichi Fukuzawa,Mori Arinori, assailed the traditional roles of marriage and family values of men and women in an unequal position. At the same time, they publicized the equal between men and women.Meanwhile, the civil rights movement was rising in society,Yukichi Fukuzawa,Ueki Emori and others also took this opportunity to promote the modern concept of women. These behaviors laid the foundation for the advancement of Japanese women in the Taisho's democracy period.Although the decadent new code temporarily reduced women's status, overall, the Meiji period laid the foundation for the improvement of women's status in Taisho democratic period. The second chapter mainly analyzes the change of women's status in the democratic period of Taisho. In the democratic period of Taisho, the improvement of women's status was not accomplished overnight. Many major events happened at this time, which objectively promoted the improvement of women's status. For example, during the Russo-Japanese war,a large number of men were killed in the battlefield and women had to go out of their homes to serve as the main labor force.Another example was "mi bubo",although it broke out accidentally, but it let the broad masses to see the power of the female group; In addition, although the great kanto earthquake brought misery to the Japanese people,it also broke the shackled women by urban construction and social customs. And the continuous reform of Japanese society and the acceleration of urbanization also created conditions for the improvement of Japanese women's status in Taisho democratic period. The third chapter of this paper mainly analyzes the factors affecting the advancement of women's status. In the democratic period of Taisho, women's status was greatly influenced by the romance of Taisho, and women's propaganda gradually increased, and the society began to appreciate the beauty of women. As women receiving new education,Hiratsuka Raichyo and Yosano Akiko had also made indelible contributions to the liberation of Japanese women. At this time, the popularization of education also promoted the liberation of women. In the period of Taisho's democracy, women received extensive education, which improved women's employment skills and improved their thinking, and then women's subject consciousness began to awaken. The fourth chapter analyzes the reflection of the change of women's status. The improvement of women's status in Taisho's democratic period was reflected in various aspects of social life, such as the change of clothing and the change of love concept. One of the most typical is the change in women's careers. Many professions, such as hairdressers, writers and doctors, had started to see women.
