The Impact Of Money Priming On College Students' Death Anxiety

Fear management theory(TMT for short)is one of the most well-known theories in the study of death.Fear management theory holds that death anxiety is the fundamental anxiety of human beings.The survival and development of human beings are alleviating death anxiety.With the development of the economy,money has exerted an increasing influence on people's lives,and human life cannot be separated from money.Fear management theory believes that money can enhance people's self-esteem,enhance their sense of control over life,and then alleviate death anxiety.At present,researchers' research on death anxiety mainly focuses on the effects of death anxiety on behavior,the relationship between self-esteem and death anxiety,and few studies on the relationship between money activation and death anxiety.To understand the relationship between money and death anxiety,to further understand the impact of money activation on death anxiety,to enrich the research of money and death anxiety,and to enrich the theory of fear management.Based on the theory of fear management,this study designed three experimental studies with college students as the research object.Before the experimental study,a pre-experimental study was conducted to test the effectiveness of the death reminder operation.Then proceed with a formal study.Study one is to study the impact of money concept on death anxiety through the start of money concept;study two uses reward to study the impact of money reward on death anxiety.The third research is to use the reward start up paradigm,based on the second research to further study the impact of supra-threshold monetary reward and sub-threshold monetary reward on death anxiety,and to study the monetary reward by setting two different monetary reward amounts: high and low The effect of level on death anxiety.The results show that the concept of money and money reward will have a significant impact on the death anxiety of college students,and there are significant differences.There are significant differences in the level of death anxiety of collegestudents between supra-threshold monetary rewards and supra-threshold monetary rewards,while there is no significant difference in the level of monetary rewards among college students' death anxiety levels.Conclusion: Money concept priming will alleviate the death anxiety of college students to some extent;the monetary reward will alleviate the death anxiety of college students to some extent;and the monetary reward above the threshold will alleviate the death anxiety of college students to some extent.
