Yaya was one of the important military bureaucrats of the Fangzhen embassy in the Tang Dynasty.On the basis of previous studies,this article explores the settings,functions,and social attributes of the Yaya by collating the documents about the Yaya in Dunhuang documents and the records of the Yaya in traditional historical materials,and sorts out the development context of the Yaya under the regime of the Guiyijun.The setting of Yaya.The types of Yaya included Duyaya and ordinary Yaya.There were two types of settings for the Duyaya during the Zhang's reign of the Guiyijun,namely,the left Duyaya and the right Duyaya,there are 5 persons in the Duyaya during the Zhang's Guiyijun;There may be 4 kinds of Duyaya during the Jinshan Kingdom of the Western Han Dynasty.Due to the lack of historical data,the specific names are unknown,there were a total of 5 people in the post of the Duyaya.During the period of the Cao's Guiyijun,there were at least 4 kinds of Duyaoya,including Yanei Duyaya,Yaqian Duyaya,Zumabu Duyaya and Youmabu Duyaya,there were a total of 35 people in the Duyaya.As for ordinary Yaya,during the period of Zhang's Guiyijun,there were four types of common Yaya: Left-handed Yaya,Right-hand Yaya,Special Envoys Yaya,and Secretary Yaya.There were 19 people.During the Jinshan Kingdom of the Western Han Dynasty,ordinary Yaya included Left-handed Yaya,Right-handed Yaya,Special Envoys Yaya,Secretary Yaya,Lead Yaya,Casually Yaya,there were six types of Yaya.There are a total of 48 people.During the period of the Cao's Guiyijun,there were four types of Left-handed Yaya,Right-handed Yaya,Special Envoys Yaya,and Secretary Yaya.There were a total of 267 people in the Cao's ordinary Yaya.The function of Yaya.The functions of the Yaya during the period of the Zhang's return to the Guiyijun included military functions,foreign exchange functions,and management logistics.During this period,the Yaya's functions were relatively small.Compared with the time when the Zhang's returned to the Guiyijun,the Yaya of the Western Han Dynasty during the Jinshan Kingdom became wider,including more clerical work,bodyguards,management taxation and camping,and management of local government affairs.Because the Jinshan State is independent and sound,and requires a large number of posts,the scope of Yaya of the Jinshan State during theperiod was the widest.The functions of the Yaya during the period of the Cao's return to the Guiyijun were somewhat reduced compared to the functions during the Jinshan Kingdom of the Western Han Dynasty.They included military functions,foreign exchange functions,management of logistics,civilian duties,and management of local government affairs.The social status changes of Yaya.The post of Yaya was a large number in the regime of the Guiyijun.Although their backgrounds varied,they were still mostly held by the noble families.During the period of the Zhang's Guiyijun and the Western Han Dynasty Jinshan Kingdom,the Yaya economy was in good condition.In the period of the Cao's,as the number of Yaya increased sharply,there are a total of more than 300 people in DuYaya and ordinary Yaya,Some Yaya are craftsmen and musicians,and some Yaya have no actual post.During this period,Yaya became almost a title.Both officials and ordinary people have Yaya.The Yaya what became ordinary people are economically difficult,but the Yaya with actual positions are still in good economic condition.
