He Shaoji,as a promoter and practitioner of stele inscriptions in the late Qing Dynasty, has profound attainments in both the practice and theory of calligraphy, especially in its long history and far-reaching influence. In the present study of calligraphy, most of the expositions on He Shaoji's cursive writing are summarized in declarative language,or compared with other stele calligraphers of the same period, while few combine self-creation with He Shaoji's style of calligraphy and have new self-opinions.He Shaoji's artistic expression in cursive writing can be said to be "both people and books are old",and the focus of this paper is to analyze the characteristics of the three important periods of his book career from the social background and his life. The study of He Shaoji's cursive character includes the analysis of his cursive pen,character-knotting,composition and ink color. On the basis of this, the research on He Shaoji's cursive style is carried out, which has a certain theoretical guidance and practical impetus to the creative practice based on it.Finally, the author made some thinking before writing, and made some trade-offs on the basis of the characteristics of He Shaoji's cursive script, such as reducing the excessive exaggeration of shaking pen, reducing the excessive circle of the pen when opposing the front, and so on.In the process of self-practice creation,we should strengthen the lines in the basic aspect, concise the font structure and pursue changes in the word-formation aspect, adjust the rules and regulations, integrate all the schools, absorb all the advantages, and make bold innovations.
