Academic translation, unlike literary translation or legal translation, serves as a communicating bridge mainly for readers and scholars of different tongues and thus requires mastery of the professional knowledge as well as the accurate but not rigid expressions in a certain field. It depends a lot on the translator to which extent the text should be translated precisely. This paper mainly takes the practice of Chinese-English translation in Chapter 9of Media Geography as an example, trying to compare the Theme-Rheme Structure of declarative sentences in Chinese and English, and summarize the Theme-Rheme adjustment strategies applicable to academic texts' Chinese-English translation. This paper briefly points out the similarities and differences in the structure of declarative sentences between English and Chinese, the possible obstacles to translation tasks and the corresponding translation strategies. For Chinese sentences that conform to "subject + predicate + object" or Chinese sentences that roughly conform to "known information + new information",the Theme-Rheme Structure of the original text can be retained without changing the original expression intention and sentence center of gravity;for source sentences with prolonged Rhemes, with important information at the end of the sentences, with unclear or loosing connections to the above content, the Theme-Rheme Structure of the original text can be changed. At the same time, the author also voices that both English and Chinese sentence patterns are changeable, and sometimes translators need to integrate two different translation strategies to achieve the goal of high-quality translation.
