With the rapid development of computer,multimedia,network,and communication technologies,the society has entered an era of knowledge economy with information technology as its main feature in the 21 th century.All walks of life are undergoing change and development driven by "Internet +".Similarly,domestic English listening learning methods have undergone revolutionary changes.Information technology has been continuously applied to the English listening teaching design and the English listening teaching process.Various online platforms of English listening learning have emerged at the moment,combined with the offline English listening learning activities and formed an online and offline blended learning mode.This paper uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods,employing questionnaire surveys,English listening tests,and in-depth interview to conduct a three-month teaching experiment.95 students from Class One and Class Two of Grade Nine of a Shanghai junior school are selected as experimental subjects.Moreover,Class One is the experimental class which the teacher adopts an online and offline blended learning mode to implement English listening teaching activities,and Class Two is the controlled class which the teacher uses the traditional offline mode to implement English listening teaching activities.The purpose of this study is to explore the application of the online and offline blended learning mode to English listening teaching in junior schools.The research questions are as follows: 1.What effects does the online and offline blended learning mode have on the learning outcome of junior school students' English listening? 2.What impacts does the online and offline blended learning mode exert on junior school students' learning attitudes,learning interest and learning strategies of English listening?The research results show that,after conducting the experiment,the level of English listening of junior school students in the experimental class is greatly improved and there is a significant difference((P= 0.000<0.05).Therefore,it isconcluded that the application of online and offline blended learning mode is conducive to enhancing the learning outcome of junior school students in English listening.Moreover,comparing with the controlled class,there is a greater extent of enhancement in English listening in the experimental class,showing a significant difference.Secondly,the results show that the application of the online and offline blended learning mode causes that the junior students' learning attitudes on English listening are shifted from negative engagement into positive engagement,learning interest in English listening is strengthened and learning strategies of English listening are transformed from single to diversified ways.
