The research object of this article,Xunqin Pang,lives in an era when Chinese and Western cultures collide.How to find the artistic practice of self-cultural characteristics from a cross-cultural perspective? Xunqin Pang's exploration of Chinese traditional patterns provides us with a unique perspective.In the pursuit of the cultural commonness of the times,the visual form condensed in the pattern highlights the specific cultural identity,which is used to construct the traditional Chinese culture and becomes an abstract "signified" meaning symbol.As an important carrier of China's traditional culture,its special form is associated with complicated social consciousness and bears the national emotion of "liveliness,bravery,enthusiasm and integrity".Through combing Xunqin Pang's exploration of Chinese traditional patterns in the last century,this article systematically presents his artistic achievements and innovative achievements in various stages.Although Xunqin Pang was influenced by western art,he selectively adopted the methods of expression and absorbed them into his artistic creation.Based on the selective collection of traditional culture,Chinese forms are extracted from Chinese traditional patterns,hidden cultural characteristics are revealed,and creative modern interpretations are made.The form of his works reflects the spirit and emotion condensed in the blood of the China,and is permeated with genuine Chinese complex and eastern style.It has stimulated national identity and cohesion in a special historical period.At the same time,he firmly established his artistic ideal in Chinese traditional culture,developed the design with Chinese context with firm cultural confidence,and opened up a new road for modern design in China,facing the modern and future.In order to avoid the subjective interpretation of the author due to personal factors in the literature,this article takes Xunqin Pang's representative work "Chinese Pattern Collection" as the starting point,analyzes his traditional patterns drawn from Shang and Zhou Dynasties,Warring States Period,Wei Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties,Han Dynasty and Tang Dynasty,and uses hermeneutic methods to analyze the patterns from two aspects of graphics and colors,which is the innovation of this article.Graphics include composition,lines and shapes,and colors include works influenced by eastern and western color concepts respectively.It is another innovation of this article to further explore the cultural connotation behind the spiritual emotion and emotion condensed in the visual form from the perspective of semiotics.This article tries to present its inheritance and innovation in the context of the contemporary era,hoping to make some contribution to the thinking of localization design.
