This is a report on the translation of Chapter Five of From Rule by law to Rule of Law: the Path to Law-based Educational Governance,a legal academic book written by Prof.Shen Suping,the doctoral supervisor in School of Education of Renmin University of China.This book makes a comprehensive summary and analysis of China’s law-based educational governance.Reasonable guidance on how to realize law-based educational governance in regard to legislation,judicature and law enforcement was also given in this book.This project aims to accurately convey the information of this book to foreign readers and provide experience for the construction of law-based educational governance in other countries.This report gives a brief introduction to the background of China’s law-based educational governance as well as the significance of the task.It also discusses the nature and features of the source text and the translation methods used in this project.This report is composed of two main parts,the pre-translation preparation and the translation practice.The first part includes selecting source text,parallel texts and assistant tools for translation,and building glossary and so on.The second part mainly focuses on the description of the translation process,as well as the analysis of cases,which is conducted at the lexical and syntactic level by comparing the respective features of Chinese and English languages.Through this practice,the author recognizes the importance of pre-translation preparation and also the positive role of teamwork and the establishment of terminology in ensuring the quality of translation.The report also summarizes the shortcomings and suggestions of this task that may be conducive to the future Chinese-English translation of legal texts. |
