This dissertation aims to provide an analysis and exploration of Three Movements from Petrushka in terms of music and practical performance in 3 chapters.First of all, chapter 1 provided a brief background introduction of 3 versions of Three Movements from Petrushka. Then,a summarization of main argument and methods were followed. The main body includes two themes: musical analysis and practical performance exploration.Musical analysis concludes music form from partial to overall, harmony from longitudinal to horizontal, rhythm from obvious to invisible, beats from homogeneous and heterogeneous, and texture form single to multiple.Practical performance exploration includes four mainly points: single texture form perfor mance, multiple texture form performance, imagination of orchestration and overall performance arrangement. The main argument of this dissertation is that there is a highly correlation between musical analysis and practical performance. It is important to understand the analysis of rhythm, texture because it is beneficial to solve performance difficulties.Furthermore, imagination of orchestration and arrangement is critical to obtain better symphonic effect.
