A Study On The Techniques Of Orchestration Of Olivier Messiaen's Turangal?la Symphony

Olivier Messiaen(1908-1992)is one of the famous composers,who is also one of the representatives of music theorists in the 20 th century at the same time.Besides,his music language and composition techniques have a strong personal style,whose works also have a distinctive personality and unique expression.In The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians,Messian is called the "great musician of the 20 th century".Meanwhile,the works of various genres and a series of music theories he created have an important influence on the music of the 20 th century.As for the Turangal?la Symphony of Olivier Messiaen,it was commissioned by the Kusaiwitzki Foundation,who started to create it in 1947,and took two years to complete it.Besides,the work has ten movements,and the playing time is about 80 minutes.Through such a huge work,it shows its early musical language comprehensively,which also becomes one of the most representative works in the early stage.In this paper,it will take orchestral orchestration as the starting point of study,so as to make an comprehensive study on its sound,tone and orchestration layout.The research content of this paper is divided into three parts.In the the first part,it introduces the life and creative stages of composer,which also describes the creative background and characteristics of composition techniques of Turangal?la Symphony.The latter two parts are the focus of the paper.In the second part,it starts from the perspective of orchestral orchestration to carry out empirical research,which also makes the analysis of the corresponding musical instrument configuration and music resources,as well as carefully explores the vertical tone texture treatment and the spreading forms of horizontal sound stereo.In the third part,it is from the macro point of view to make a further summary and analysis of the timbre evolution and the arrangement of equipment.
