Continuation task in a new form of English writing proposed by professor Wang Chuming(2012)which closely combine English input and output.And now it is an essential part of New College Entrance Examination.But in the internship researcher found that there are problems in senior high school continuation task teaching andwriting.For examples students often grammar mistakes,have difficulties in keeping coherence with the given text,and also seldom adopted effective English writing strategies.For this reason,this paper attempts to apply systematic English continuation task teaching model to actual teaching to improve students' writing ability,and explore more effective methods to put continuation task into practice.This research is an action research which based on the theory of continuation task proposed by Wang Chuming(2012),competence involved in continuation task put forward by Chen Jun(2013)and the continuation teaching model announced by Huang Yining and Wang Xianlong(2015),which aimed to promote students' writing ability in continuation task.This study mainly answers two questions: 1.Does the systemic continuation task teaching model have the effect to improve students' writing ability in continuation task?2.In what aspects students' English writing ability have been improved? 3.How to apply the continuation task teaching model into actual teaching more effectively?This study takes the senior 1 students of class 7 in a senior high school in AnShan as the research object.Two rounds of action research were carried out which cost 13 weeks based on the theory and teaching model proposed by predecessors.Each round of action research contains four steps: planning,implementation,analysis and reflection.SPSS was used to analyze the influence of continuation task on students' grammatical knowledge,textual knowledge and strategic competence in English writing,and to explore ways and models to apply continuation task more effectively.After collecting data for analysis,this study obtains the following conclusions:Students' grammatical knowledge,textual knowledge and strategic competence in continuation task has been improved after two rounds of action research.Students can use words more accurately and keep coherence,and use proper writing strategies to successfully and efficiently complete the task.In addition,an effective teaching model of continuation task has been explored in the process of action research,there are seven steps:preparation;reading comprehension;classify keywords;guidance;outline;continuation;evaluation.This continuation task teaching model can better promote students' English writing ability in continuation task.
