A Report On The C-e Translation Of Blockchain + Entering New Era Of Intelligence

Today blockchain is the most revolutionary technology of the 21 st century.It has become a hot topic among scientists and businessmen.Governmental and financial institutions,giant transnational companies pay great attention to this technology.Although blockchain technology is very popular,still not much information is available about it,and only few people are familiar with it.By studying blockchain,we have the opportunity to understand it better.During the internship,the company which the author translated for set up a research project on blockchain.Under the guidance of Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory,this translation project aims to examine difficulties and strategies in C-E technical translation,taking Blockchain + Entering New Era of Intelligence as an example.First,the project identifies the problems met in translation of Blockchain + Entering New Era of Intelligence,such as translation of terms,abbreviations,four-character phrases,cognitive metaphor,long and complex sentences,zero-subject sentences,passive structures,as well as translation of different logic structures and modes of thinking in both languages.It then reveals which strategies proposed by Peter Newmark have been employed to deal with these problems.Through qualitative,quantitative and case study analysis it finally discusses possible reasons and motives underlying the choices and decisions of the translator.As a result,the study finds out that for the translation of terms,abbreviations,four-character phrases and cognitive metaphor the author implements literal and communicative translation.To translate zero-subject sentences,such translation techniques as addition and conversion to passive voice are used.Translation techniques as division of long sentences,conversion of parts of speech,order reversion are used for translation of long and complex Chinese sentences.To translate the different logic structures and different modes of thinking,the author uses such techniques as addition and order reversion.The author hopes that translation strategies concluded in this project can provide some reference for technical translators and students majoring in translation and interpreting,as well as language students and help to improve their translation skills and quality of translation.
