With the development of big data, the application of Artificial Intelligence(AI)in judicial practice has become an inevitable trend.Artificial Intelligence and Judicial Modernization, written by Shanghai High Court's former president Cui Yadong, completely records Shanghai High Court's successful development of the AI-assisted System and shows the achievements of China's judicial modernization. This translation practice takes some chapters of the book as the source text, summarizes the difficulties in the process of translation and looks for effective strategies to solve them.Newmark's semantic translation emphasizes the faithfulness to original text, trying to maintain its forms and contents;while communicative translation takes the target readers as the core and makes proper changes to reduce the difficulties in their reading. From the perspective of semantic translation and communicative translation, this translation practice aims to analyze the translation strategies such as amplification, omission, linear translation and readjustment of sentence structures that can be used in translating different types of sentences.Through this translation practice, the translator finds that in the translation of the same text, semantic translation and communicative translation can be applied in different cases;when necessary, these two approaches can be applied in combination. In the process of translation, the translator should use semantic translation and communicative translation flexibly to solve specific translation problems so as to convey accurate information and achieve communicative purpose of the text.
