Achieving Logicality In Science Lecture Interpreting

The material of the simulated interpretation is the live video of the book briefing on Climate Change: Evidence and Causes,which is co-authored by the National Academy of Sciences and the Royal Society.The interpreter conducted consecutive interpretation on the video,and recorded the process.After the practice,the interpreter has noted problems of target language through reviewing the record,analyzed textual characteristics,and concluded main problems and their relevant strategies.There are three elements to evaluate the quality of technical interpretation,namely accuracy,fluency and logicality.As one of evaluation principles,logicality is also the core of this report which is classified as a science lecture.The practice material has two obvious features which are high density of information and colloquial expression.For the former one,the interpreter has adopted catching key words,building logical framework,division and adjustment as strategies;for the latter,deleting corrected information and adding necessary invisible words are adopted.The report has concluded the relevant questions on realizing logicality of target language.It provides specific strategies that can be a reference for interpreters who encounter such kind of interpretation or interpreting problems,thereby guarantee the quality of interpretation.
