With the continuous development of computer technology, machine translation has also changed dramatically, from the original rule-based machine translation(RBMT)to today's more intelligent neural machine translation(NMT).In just a few decades, the achievement of machine translation evolves from the robot-style text into the humanlike output, which is readable enough for most people.Coupled with the popularity of the Internet,in-depth improvement of computer software and other technological advances, both opportunities and challenges are brought to translators. In the past,a translator might work at home with only his or her hands and pens, like a small domestic workshop. To date, however,it is increasingly difficult for pure human translation to answer the call of today's society for efficiency. In such an information age, efficiency matters more than ever. The quality of machine translation has been improved to the point where it is readable enough, and then offers the translation community a new mode of working—machine translation plus post-editing(MT+PE).To make full use of MT,this paper selects a text of English for science and technology(EST)that is closely related to the localization industry,Creating Intelligent Content with Lightweight DITA,as the object of this translation practice. The author hopes to explore the application of MT+PE as a new translation method in science and technology text by translating this text. This translation practice report is divided into four parts: the first part introduces some background knowledge of the project, including project introduction, text introduction, author introduction and goals of the project;the second part describes the translation process, including selection of the MT engine, the file format processing, and other pre-translation preparation;and the third part is the case analysis, discussing the MT errors encountered during the PE process and providing the author's recommended PE strategies;and the last part,or the fourth part, will close the report and draw some conclusions from the previous discussion.
