The development of Chinese characters bears the humanistic spirit of the Chinese nation from ancient times to the present.The era of creative design for printing offers new challenges and opportunities to profound Chinese characters which provide people with opportunities of communication and exchange,have an important position in spreading traditional Chinese culture and possess a high value of art research and design.As a part of the character library,Chinese printing character can be seen everywhere in our lives.With the rapid development of science and technology,the design of the printing character has gradually developed from original calligraphy art to regular artistic design;however,there is also a crisis of insufficient application areas and lacking expression of inherent emotion and temperament,and culture of fonts during the development process.While satisfying the functionality and practicability of printed fonts,the design of Chinese printing character should clearly develop the history and culture of Chinese characters,and integrate the creative design with the inherent emotion and temperament of the fonts,playing a positive role in promoting the application and development of the design for Chinese printing character and creating charm and value of culture of traditional Chinese character.This subject takes the Chinese characters printing as the entire research object,and its final design of the printing is named “Parallel Fonts”.The entire subject deeply explores the historical and cultural significance of printed fonts entirely from historical origin and features of printed fonts,researches current development trend ofcreative design of Chinese characters printing,analyzes the design specification of printed fonts,and summarizes design methods and principles of printed fonts.This subject focuses on the aspects of framework,shape,aspect ratio,center and middle part setting,analyzes the artistic temperament of the fonts,and then reshapes the strokes,adjusts thickness and gray scale of the strokes,makes rational spatial arrangement of the strokes according to different font structures,constructs a standardized front-forming specification,and finally designs a complete set of“parallel Fonts”.This "Parallel Fonts" design was produced by a combination of theoretical knowledge of font design and design practice.It is hoped that through the creative design of this “parallel script” printing,the design quality and spreading intensity of the printed fonts can be improved,so that the fonts can be transmitted and inherited from the dual-perception of external visual appearance and internal temperament and ideogram.
