Ye Gongchuo And Political Situation In The Early Republic Of China(1912-1924)

Ye Gongchuo is one of the core figures of the Traffic Clique.He served as the second minister of the Traffic department under the Yuan Shikai rule and and the Anhui clique rule of the northern warlords government and the Chief of the Traffic department under the joint administration and Duan Qirui 's provisional government.He also served as Finance Minister in Sun Yat-sen's Guangdong Revolutionary Government.Not only did Ye go through major events such as the Revolution of 1911,the restoration of Yuan Shikai,the restoration of Zhang Xun,Zhi-Wan War and Zhi-Feng War,he even participated in the establishment of Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary regime in Guangdong.Its political activities traversed the period of the northern warlords government and straddled the North and South of China.Ye Gongchuo participated in and witnessed the development and changes of the political situation during the northern warlords government,and had a certain impact.This article is divided into three parts:The first part mainly discusses the main political activities of Ye Gongchuo from the establishment of the Republic of China to the failure of Hongxian monarchy.After the Wuchang uprising,Ye Gongchuo founded newspapers to support the revolution and ran in the North and South of China for Republican system.During the brewing of the Emperor system,Ye Gongchuo was deeply involved in the traffic case and was forced to support the imperial system.The second part mainly discusses the political activities and influence of Ye Gongchuo in the disputes between Anhui clique,Zhili clique and Fengtian clique in the period from the failure of Hongxian monarchy to the outbreak of the First Zhi-Feng war.First of all,Ye Gongchuo participated in the war of Duan Qirui against Zhang Xun,and provided a lot of logistics support for the Anhui clique to help Duan Qirui "rebuild the Republic".Secondly,after the Zhi-Wan War,although the Beijing government was jointly controlled by Zhili clique and Fengtian clique,Zhili clique and Fengtian clique actually fought against each other secretly.Ye Gongchuo and Liang Shiyi used the financial turmoil in Beijing and Tianjin to overthrow the cabinet controlled by the Zhili clique and realize Liang Shiyi 's formation,Ye Gongchuo also enter the cabinet again.Third,due to the contradiction of Zhili clique and Fengtian clique,the Liang cabinet collapsed under the attack of Wu Peifu,which indirectly led to the outbreak of the First Zhi-Feng war,and Ye was listed as the first culprit of the war due to his act of worship.The third part mainly discusses the political activities and influence of Ye Gongchuo joining Sun Yat-sen's southern revolutionary regime.In 1924,Ye Gongchuo was invited by Sun Yat-sen to join the southern regime.He raised military expenses for Sun Yat-sen and arranged finances to provide financial support for Sun Yat-sen to suppress the rebellions of Shen Hongying and Chen Jiongming.Later,Sun Yat-sen was appointed him to go north of China tocontact the Anhui clique and Fengtian clique,and negotiate and communicate The problem of the distribution of political power after the Second Zhi-Feng war.
