The memorial in the Qing Dynasty was originally a special means of communication established by the Kangxi Dynasty of the Qing Dynasty in order to keep close contact between emperors and close ministers. The memorial involves politics, economy, military affairs, culture, diplomacy, nationality, religion, etiquette, astronomy, geography, laws and regulations of the Qing Dynasty. It has the characteristics of specific times, definite dates, rich contents, authentic materials and considerable quantities. It is also the most reliable historical evidence of China's territory, sea area, population, nationality, mountains and rivers, resources and so on.There are a large number of new words, new meanings and words not included in dictionaries in the memorial, and the corpus value is quite high.A systematic study of the words in the memorial will help us to have a comprehensive understanding of Chinese historical vocabulary. The corpus studied in this paper is Compendium of Zhu Pi Memorial of Kangxi Dynasty(hereinafter referred to as "Compendium"),which is compiled and photocopied by China's First Historical Archives. Its collection of memorials began in the first month of the 28 th year of Kangxi dynasty and ended in December of the 61 st year of Kangxi dynasty.According to the editorial on its front page, there are more than 4,000 memorials of Chinese Zhu Pi in Kangxi Dynasty.Apart from a small number of memorials with little documentary value that have not been included, the Compendium combines the memorials of Chinese Zhu Pi in Kangxi Dynasty preserved by the First Historical Archives of China and the Taipei Palace Museum. This article mainly uses the research methods of lexicology and exegetics, such as quantitative statistics, synchronic comparison and diachronic comparison, parallelism induction, etc.,to study the polysyllabic words in “Compendium”.The full text is divided into three parts: First, the introduction part mainly introduces the subject source, research status, research significance, research methods and research process.Secondly, the first chapter ofthe body part explores the word-formation of the polyphonic words in the Qing Dynasty in Compendium. The second chapter is a special topic study, which explores the polysyllabic words in Compendium from three aspects: homophones with reverse order, heteromorphic words and synonymous polysyllabic words. The third chapter mainly discusses the value of the study of polyphonic vocabulary in the compilation of dictionaries, and corrects the "The Great Chinese Dictionary" from four aspects: missing entries, improper interpretation of entries' meanings, late documentary evidence for the first entry, and missing entries' necessary documentary evidence. Finally, the conclusion summarizes the previous research and points out the omissions and deficiencies of the research and the direction that can be further discussed in the future.
