The source text of this translation project is Innovation for the Fatigued,a book written by Alf Rehn, who is a noted Finnish professor of innovation. It details where companies have got innovation wrong, whist celebrating and studying the ones that lead the way.It is hoped that this translation project could update people's understanding of “innovation”,and its related translation experience could offer translation learners some useful advice to solve similar problems. This project involves lots of proper names, and this report is going to focus on coping methods of proper names.First, the author picks up four types of common proper names in this book, they are personal names, names of books, names of corporations and institutions, and names of professional terms. Then based on some approaches to meet the causal and historical condition of names, the author further splits each category into several types, including using existing translated version and transcoding based on established rules, and further discusses cases in detail.Major findings are as follows: when adopting corresponding names in target language,we need to comprehensively utilize different search engines, various searching skills and reliable and related websites and stream media;we mostly adopt origin-based transliterations to the translation of foreign personal names, and a comprehensive dictionary of names can be a good helper;when we are translating names of books, literal translation is enough;the translation of names of professional terms calls for taking contexts into consideration and thinking beyond the word itself.
