Object:To understand the characteristics and the influencing factors of middle school students'help-seeking?intention,object,and method?.And to analyze the possible mediating role of help-seeking in the relationship between school bullying and non-suicidal self-injury?NSSI?,and to provide a basis for the prevention and control of NSSI among middle school students.Methods:The middle school students in the three research sites that have been established in Nanchang were taken as the respondents.These three research sites were the middle school affiliated to Nanchang University,Wanli No.1 Middle School and Hongdu Middle School,all of which are composed of middle school and high school.A self-made general situation questionnaire,non-suicidal self-injury judgment items,a Chinese version of the Olweus bullying questionnaire,and a self-made middle school students'bullying and help-seeking questionnaire were used to conduct a questionnaire survey of 4875 students in the three middle schools mentioned above.SPSS 26.0 and PROCESS 3.3 were used for general data analysis and mediation effect test.Result:?1?Among the 4434 participants,female students scored higher than male students on help-seeking intention?P<0.001?.Students who were class leaders and non-only children had a higher score on help-seeking intention(P as class leaders<0.001,P non-only children<0.05).The scores of junior high school students on help-seeking intention were lower than that of high school students?P<0.001?.Students who were often scolded and punished by their elders scored lower on help-seeking intention?all P<0.001?.When respondents reported being biological mothers,their scores on help-seeking intention were higher than other kinship?P<0.05?.?2?The scores of girls seeking help from their family members and teachers were higher than those of boys?P asking for help from families<0.01,P asking for help from teachers<0.05?.Students who were often scolded and punished by their elders for seeking help from their families and teachers had lower scores?all P<0.01?.Junior high school students turned to their friends for help scored lower than senior high school students?P<0.001?.?3?Students who were often scolded and subjected to corporal punishment by their elders have lower scores for help by means of face-to-face conversation,telephone calls and paper letters?all P<0.05?.?4?Compared with junior high school students,high school students were more inclined to help-seeking,whether it was in terms of help-seeking intention,the object or the way of help-seeking?OR=1.1792.128,all P<0.05?.?5?The total report rate of bullying on campus in the past year was 19.0%,of which the report rate of bullying was 2.2%,and the report rate of being bullied was13.3%.Whether bullying or victim of bullying on campus,the report rate was higher among students who were often punished by elders?all P<0.05?.Whether bullying or victim of bullying on campus,the report rate of onlychildren was higher than that of non-only children?all P<0.001?.?6?The total detection rate of NSSI in middle school students in the past year was 33.3%.Among them,the detection rate of male NSSI was lower than that of female students?P<0.001?and the detection rate of junior high school students was higher than that of high school students?P<0.001?.The detection rate of middle school students who were class leaders is also higher than those who were not class leaders(P as class leaders<0.001).Regardless of students who were often scolded by elders or corporal punishment by elders,the NSSI detection rate was higher?all P<0.001?.?7?Bullying and being bullied on campus were positively related to NSSI.The help-seeking intention of middle school students was negatively correlated with NSSI.In addition to asking for help from friends,asking for help from family members and teachers were negatively correlated with NSSI of middle school students.Regarding the way of asking for help,no matter how you ask for help,it is negatively related to the NSSI of middle school students.?8?The help-seeking intention had a mediating effect in the impact of campus bullying on NSSI,and the mediating effect accounts for 3.25%of the total effect.Seeking help from family members had some mediating effects in the impact of bullying on campus on NSSI,and the mediating effect accounts for 6.00%of the total effect.Seeking help from teachers had some mediating effects in the impact of school bullying on NSSI,and the mediating effect accounts for 4.25%of the total effect.Face-to-face conversation for help had some mediating effect on the impact of bullying on NSSI in campus,and the mediating effect accounts for 1.75%.Conclusion:?1?Nanchang's middle school students'help-seeking behavior,NSSI behavior,and campus bullying behavior have different characteristics;?2?Significant correlations exist among middle school students'help-seeking behavior,campus bullying and NSSI;?3?The influencing factors of middle school students'intention to seek help,who they are asking for help,and how they seek help are similar;?4?The intention of middle school students to ask for help,family members,teachers,and face-to-face conversations have some mediating roles in the relationship between being bullied on campus and NSSI.
