Based on the E-C translation practice of two children stories excerpted from Great Stories for Children,this report aims to study the guiding role of Reception Aesthetics in the translation practice of children's literature,and to explore and summarize the translation methods for the translation practice of children's literature texts.This report first introduces the definition of children's literature,a special type of text,and its translation features.Secondly,according to the particularity of translation of children's literature itself,the main concepts and principles of Reception Aesthetics and its guidance and applicability to children's literature are introduced--the theory perfectly conforms to the characteristics of translation of children's literature,i.e.“reader-oriented” and “stressing on the horizon of expectation of readers”.Finally,the author lists some typical cases in which the key principles and methodology of Reception Aesthetics are skillfully applied in translation practice to solve the problems encountered in actual translation practice.Therefore,it is hoped to provide intuitive and practical translation methods for future translators.Specifically,from three aspects: vocabulary,syntax and culture,the author explores the guiding role of Reception Aesthetics in the translation of Great Stories for Children,and the language features and translation methods of the translation practice under the translation principles advocated by Reception Aesthetics,namely,“centering on the reading experience of children readers” and “focusing on the horizon of expectation of children readers”.At the lexical level,the language of translation of children's literature texts should be colloquial,with reduplicated words,interjections and onomatopoeia used to express children's tone,and continuous verbs should be used to make the story three-dimensional and convenient for children readers to imagine and understand.At the syntactic level,short sentences and rhetoric are often used to increase children readers' reading interest and improve their reading pleasure and enthusiasm.In terms of culture,we should keep in mind the limited understanding of children readers and adopt the translation strategy of“domestication” as the main and “foreignization” as the auxiliary.This report is supposed to sum up reasonable translation methods through the study of Reception Aesthetics and translation practice of children's literature,providing necessary help and inspiration for future translation of children's literature.
