Effective note-taking can improve the accuracy, completeness and fluency of consecutive interpretation. However, ineffective notes will lead to poor performance as they may interfere with the output. Therefore, improving note-taking is of great significance for every interpreter. This thesis is a case study on the mock conference of the Refugee Crisis in the Context of COVID-19 Pandemic to analyze the impact of ineffective note-taking on English-Chinese consecutive interpretation, and to discuss possible solutions.First, based on a review of related literature, the author summed up the functions of notetaking and the characteristics of effective notes. Then, after a meticulous analysis of the notes taken by the author during the mock conference,it was found that inefficient notetaking had three manifestations, namely information omission, content redundancy and improper layout. Finally, the author proposed possible measures to improve the effectiveness of notes. These measures included making enough preparation, establishing a terminology database, balancing listening, analyzing and note-taking,and improving the layout of notes.Notes should be recorded vertically, and splitting lines should be used.Since ineffective note-taking is a common issue among students,it is hoped that this paper can help students develop more targeted measures to improve their notes.
