Analysis And Coping Strategies For Pretermissions Under Syntactic Linearity In J-C Simultaneous Interpreting Without Script

Focused on optimization of the application for syntactic linearity strategies used in Japanese-Chinese simultaneous interpretation,this thesis analyzes and studies the mock conference which is a Japanese-Chinese simultaneous interpretation without script based on the diabetes and periodontology lecture attended by the author.The lecture was in the nature of science popularization with non-specialist audiences as the targets.By using slides,the speaker proceeded to speak at a stable and smooth pace.By starting from the syntactic linearity of Japanese-Chinese simultaneous interpretation caused by Japanese structure,this thesis compares the instant translation that contains pretermission and the later modified interpretation,summarizing the influencing factors for syntactic linearity strategies effects under different source language structures,including “object-verb” structure in Japanese,inserted incoherent components in Japanese sources,the techniques of cutting,transforming and connecting when processing compound sentences in Japanese,as well as the speed of the source language speaking,the interpreter’s own habits,and preparations before interpretation,etc.In view of the above influencing factors,this thesis puts forward the practical training methods,preparations before interpretation and notices for Japanese-Chinese simultaneous interpretation without script for interpretation learners.As to improve syntactic linearity strategies,this thesis proposes that it can be realized by focusing on auxiliary functions for finding sentence division points in source texts in training.And it can also be realized by accumulating connection and transformation methods of “object-verb” structure in Japanese-Chinese simultaneous interpretation,as well as summarizing the connection and sentence division methods of insert sentences and compound sentences peacetime training is important.In terms of improving the comprehensive application abilities of interpretation strategies and the overall interpretation quality,it is advised that adequate pre-translation preparations should be made that focuses on specific contents.And rapid response training for Japanese-Chinese translation should be added.In interpreting,multiple strategies,such as linear interpretation,prediction in translation,omission,should be actively combined to consciously find the right moments to make up for the undesirable omission in translation,thereby ensuring the correct translation of key information.
