As economic globalization and cultural diversity gain momentum, exchanges among different countries are deepening. In order to meet the increasing cultural and political demands, simultaneous interpretation emerges as a bridge for languages and cultural exchanges. No matter in political dialogue or at academic conferences, simultaneous interpretation plays a key role.Based on Yu Minhong' speeches, the report conducts mock simultaneous interpretation practice. This mock C-E practical report on simultaneous interpretation comes from two inspirational speeches of Yu Minhong, who delivers the speeches at I am a Speaker,a TV show and Shanghai Jiaotong University with the topic of entrepreneurship and the growth of college students.Yu Minhong delivers his speeches in a fast speed, with few stops and much redundant information as well as generalized colloquialism. Therefore, the challenges facing the interpreter are the short-term memory and simultaneous interpretation time.In order to solve the difficulties encountered in the simultaneous interpretation, the interpreter chooses the theory of syntactic linearity as the guiding principle of this practical report. She also adopts five techniques combined with the theory to solve these difficulties, including segmentation, anticipation, complimentary, omission, and conversion.Through this practice, the interpreter finally comes to the conclusion that simultaneous interpretation requires the interpreter to keep on practicing and summarizing experience, and combine theory with practice constantly. In addition, interpreters need to improve their bilingual competence and expand their knowledge in various fields.Only in this way can we become a qualified interpreter and do well in interpreting.
