Intertemporal decision making requires people to weigh the different costs and benefits at different time points. This choice has an important impact on the decision-making of health, education, financial management, environment and other fields in modern society. It is still a hot topic in academic circles to discuss the results of people's inter-temporal decision making and the psychological mechanism behind it.In this study, from the perspectives of selection framework and working memory, the experimental method was used to explore the effect of simultaneous and sequential option presentation on intertemporal decision making, and further studied the mediating effect of cognitive processing depth,as well as the moderating effect of individual working memory span and workload.Study 1 involved 60 college students, manipulating the presentation of simultaneous and sequential options. It was preliminarily proved that different presentation of options produced inconsistent inter-temporal decision results, and people under the condition of presenting options simultaneously chose more options with less waiting time and higher benefits.Study2 involved 120 college students to explore the mediating effect of cognitive processing depth on the intertemporal selection of choice presentation modes. It was concluded trecruitedhat people under the condition of presenting options at the same time had more in-depth cognitive processing in the intertemporal decision-making process.Study 3 involved 114 college students to explore the moderating effect of working memory span,an individual variable.Individual differences in working memory span were measured by operation-letter pairing, and it was found that it did not play a significant role in moderating the effect of option presentation on intertemporal decision making.Study 4 involved 124 college students to explore the regulation of memory load.By manipulating the subjects' high and low memory load levels,it was found that the subjects could adjust the presentation mode of options and influence the optimization of inter-temporal selection. The subjects under low working memory load conditions could make better inter-temporal decisions than those under high working memory load conditions. This study provides information for the intervention of the selection framework, enriches the literature on the presentation of options and inter-temporal decision-making,and explores the influence mechanism of cognitive processing depth, working memory span and memory load in the field of judgment and decision-making.It also provides references for social management and government policy.
