As of the drastic development of China's economy,the transformation of Chinese society from the traditional agricultural society to the modern one has undergone rapid changes in all aspects.One of them is that the gender consciousness of the overall society has been changed,especially with more and more clear demands of Chinese women on their gender status and rights.This thesis chooses a total of 18 "Leading Heroine" costume TV dramas shown from 2010 to 2019.It is based on kinds of theoretical paradigm such as the Propp's story morphology theory to analyze the narrative mode of the "Leading Heroine Dramas",the theory of Gender studies,and the Gaze,so as to study the gender representation,gender stereotypes and further more from the view of spectators to analyze how they interpret this type of dramas and what kinds of myths were triggered.At the very first beginning,it has been reviewed of the relevant research status at home and abroad,as well as theoretical paradigm,and defined the specific research targets.Then,by Propp's story morphology,the narrative mode of the "Leading Heroine Dramas" can be deconstructed and the logical rules has been found out.Secondly,through textual analysis,how the representation of gender image and gender relations is depicted? And what connotation is implied in the gender code? Thirdly,from the gaze of spectators,explore how they interpret this type of dramas and how the gender myths are implied in the process.Last but not least,it is concluded that the "Leading Heroine" costume dramas deliver the gender discrimination and gender inequality in a clear way,and the TV media as the powerful national machine of ideology,once again fulfill the pursuit and the highest interest of the patriarchal capitalism.
