A Project Report On The C-E Translation Of Nanjing Zhongshan Scenic Area And Four Others

As a famous city with a long and profound history and culture,Nanjing has rich tourism resources.This thesis is about the translation of the texts of Zhongshan Scenic Area and four others in Nanjing.These scenic areas include Ming Xiaoling Scenic Area,Zhongshan Mausoleum Scenic Area,Toutuoling Scenic Area,Linggu Scenic Area,Meihua Mountain Scenic Area,Xuanwu Lake Scenic Area,and Confucius Temple Scenic area,etc.,the author discovered some urgent problems in the process of sightseeing in Nanjing.Purifying the language environment of tourist attractions and creating a space for civilized exchanges are not only conducive to showing China’s traditional culture and history,but also promoting the economic development of Nanjing.This paper demonstrates the comparison of the translation of Nanjing Zhongshan Scenic Area and four others from three aspects:the translation of ancient architectural names,the translation of names of people,places,and institutions and the translation of four character phrases with Chinese characteristics.The first part is an overview of this research,which introduces the background,meaning,ideas and research methods of this research.The second part is an overview of Zhongshan Scenic Area and four others,which mainly includes the pre-translation preparation,translation process and post-translation modification.The third part introduces the difficulties and reasons for the translation of Zhongshan Scenic Area and four others,including names of people,places,institutions,and ancient buildings,four-character phrases with Chinese characteristics.The fourth part proposes solutions to the problems in the third part in translation,which means employing the strategy of transliteration,literal translation and interpretation.The fifth part is the conclusion of the thesis.The author concludes findings through the translation practice and puts forward the shortcomings of the paper and the direction of future learning.
