In recent years,as the reform of English curriculum,the objective of cultivating students' core literacy and reading literacy has gradually become a new guide for primary school English teachers.Reading teaching as an important part in primary school English has been implemented accordingly.For many front-line teachers,the effect of the traditional reading teaching designs to cultivate students' core literacy and reading literacy is not as effective as expected.However,teachers are still trying to conduct an efficient and helpful design to cultivate students' reading literacy and core literacy with the texts from the textbook under the guidance of new curriculum standards.Thus,this research aims to study how teachers employ an efficient design on reading teaching to promote the class efficiency and improve students' reading performance as well.This paper mainly analyzes and discusses the effectiveness of thematic meaning exploration design for primary school English reading.Through experimental teaching,class observation,interview and design case study,the author finds out the effectiveness of thematic meaning exploration design in practical teaching,and its difference with the effectiveness of the traditional design.Through the experiment on the two classes and analyzing the collected data,it is found that the thematic meaning exploration design can help improve students' reading performance,and its effect is better than the traditional design on cultivating students' core literacy and reading literacy.Thus,there are some apparent advantages of the thematic meaning exploration design compared with the traditional design.Through the study of the thematic meaning exploration design,teachers can improve their ability on design by following some specific suggestions.
