"English reading literacy" is the new requirement of English teaching and a new concept of English reading.In recent years,reading literacy in English subjects has attracted much attention,and how to cultivate students' reading literacy has gradually become a hot topic in English reading teaching.It is difficult to cultivate reading literacy only by relying on textbooks,and picture books are of great value for improving students' reading literacy.Therefore,many schools now carry out English picture books teaching.However,through the internship and practice,the author found that many teachers have a lot of confusion about the teaching method of promoting students' reading literacy through picture book teaching.Therefore,this paper mainly studies the cultivation of students' reading literacy by primary school English teachers in picture book teaching,and explores effective improvement strategies in view of existing deficiencies.This study is based on the development goal of primary and secondary school students' reading literacy proposed in the Graded English Reading Standards for Primary and Secondary School Students in China(experimental draft).First of all,this study uses questionnaire method to investigate the teaching links and methods of picture books adopted by teachers to understand the cultivation of students' corresponding reading literacy.Secondly,using the classroom observation method,the class records are coded,analyzed and assigned in detail,and the teaching process is objectively analyzed.Then,based on the survey results and analysis of the two aspects,the main problems of primary school English teachers in cultivating students' reading literacy through picture book reading teaching were found.In view of the problems,relevant teachers were interviewed to understand the causes of the problems.Finally,combined with the excellent demonstration lesson,the effective improvement strategy is discussed according to the research results.The research found that teachers pay more attention to the cultivation of students' reading ability in picture book teaching,but have little awareness of the cultivation of reading character,but the cultivation of reading ability has not broken through the traditional level of reading teaching.The concrete performance is as follows: first,lack of text concept construction,lack of learning paragraph requirements to understand;Second,the awareness of phonemes is ignored and phoneme-spelling links are weakened.Thirdly,the teaching of cultural consciousness is simple and the sublimation level of text is not deep.Fourth,not pay attention to reading habits,not the implementation of students' self-assessment;Fifth,the key ability fails to balance,the training mode tends to be exam-oriented.The main causes of these problems include: limited classroom teaching time,ambiguous understanding of the development goal of reading literacy,and neglect of the evaluation of students' English reading literacy.On the above research results,the author combined with excellent picture book demonstration class,this paper puts forward teaching suggestions to promote the development of students' English reading literacy through picture book teaching from three aspects: teaching preparation of picture book,teaching process of picture book and teaching approach of picture book to promote students' reading literacy.
