For a long time, there are many observation and discussion about the issue of family education in both domestic and foreign documentaries. As the implementer of family education, various children's images are frequently seen in documentaries on the subject of family education.Chinese scholars have sorted out the two orientations of "child-oriented" and "film-oriented" when studying the image of children.Among them, the "film-oriented" return to the film body shows a wider practical significance than the "child-oriented".Thus,this article will focus on how to interpret the visual rhetoric of children's images from the perspective of "film standard" in family documentary film. This article will discuss the issue of how children's images can play a role in visual rhetoric in family education documentaries. The text analysis method is mainly used. The documentary "Mothers' Wish" is used as the main research text, combining the relevant theories and related supplementary visual rhetoric. The documentary text explores the purpose of visual rhetoric, the context of visual rhetoric, and the strategies of visual rhetoric in the documentary.First, while combing the context of research on children's image and visual rhetoric, this article starts with the principles of documentary classification and core theories of childhood research, and demonstrates the rationality of the definition of the category of "family education theme" in terms of subject matter content.Secondly, according to the existing theory of visual rhetoric and the design of visual language in the academic world, the subject and object of rhetoric are discussed separately based on the high empathy validity of children's image..Then,from the perspectives of micro,me-so and macro, respectively, the three rhetorical contexts of children's image visual rhetoric are explained in turn, namely the inter-textual context within the symbol system, family education scenarios, and Chinese and foreign cultural backgrounds. Finally, combined with the graduation documentary, the rhetorical strategies of metaphor and symbol of children's images in the documentary are analyzed.."Mothers' Wish" uses the growth stories of two children,Zhou Yantong and Liang Yuen,to look at the issues of children's family education from the perspective of children and mothers respectively, presenting two special and universal family growth stories. And,"Mothers' Wish",the author's graduation final project, tells two stories of two children,Zhou Yantong and Liang Yuen,to find out the issues of family education from the perspective of children and mothers.More respectively,to present two special but universal family. This article stands on the shoulders of predecessors and conducts in-depth research on the image of children in documentaries. From the perspective of "movie standard",it appropriately expands the visual rhetoric analysis of children's images in documentaries. However, the delineation of the research field of vision and the scope of the text is slightly limited. In addition, what is limited by the independent production.,the visual presentation of "Mothers' Wish" is also slightly single. But the above regrets and deficiencies will continue to be improved in subsequent research and practice.
