People's stereotype of a group is often related to its media image. As the protagonist in the lens, the disabled have been facing the problem of stereotype, which affects the audience's attitude to the group. As a form of image with both authenticity and artistry, how to transcend stereotype and construct the image of the disabled is a problem worthy of discussion by documentary creators.Based on the Frame, this paper holds that the media image is constructed by both of the media frame and the audience frame. The two frames construct the media image and interact with the formation of stereotype. The three common stereotypes of the disabled correspond to specific media frameworks. As an information model, media framework is the foundation for the communicators to construct the image of the disabled. The communicators can construct the media image by choosing and reorganizing the structure of theme, event and text.As a cognitive schema, audience frame is the way for the audience to construct the image of the disabled.Audience frame constructs the media image and influences the cognition through three mechanisms: activation, imbalance and coordination. At the same time, this paper takes the author's graduation work Freedom of Wheelchairs as the research object, from the perspective of the creator, discusses how to break through the specific media framework to complete the construction of "common people" image of the disabled. It also discusses how to use the audience framework to guide the audience to change the stereotype of the disabled, and establish the cognition of the " common people " of the disabled.Through the above path to break through the stereotype, rewrite the stereotype, and even beyond the stereotype,in order to provide a reference for the construction of the media image of the disabled in the documentary.
