Study On The Interactive Development Between Rural Tourism And Rural Gentrificaiton

Entering the period of later industrialization,the relationship between urban and rural of China is in the process of transformation,the flowing of population,capital and culture elements between urban and rural is speeding.Villages in metropolitan suburbs begin to pay attention to the diversify direction of development,and it is common to develop recreation and leisure functions.At the same time,the status of rural in Chinese has been declining since the mid-nineteenth century;it was closely associated with the passing of country gentlemen and the loss of young adults.Nowadays,countryside in developed area is calling for the arrival of the new squire.The phenomenon rural gentrification is in the process and the trend is obvious.In this context,the article takes Huashu in Nanjing suburb as the research object,using the methods of in-depth interviews and questionnaire survey,to discuss the interactive development of rural tourism and rural gentrification,including the background and logic,the coordinating process and mechanism,as well as development strategy in the future.First of all,the interactive development of rural tourism and rural gentrification has its background and logic.Nowadays,Village renewal has become one of the important goals in developed areas of China and the functions rural areas have transferred from agricultural production to aesthetic and consumption.The same as the rural economic development strategies,the development of rural tourism in our country encounters the bottleneck,while the market dynamics of rural gentrification is insufficient.The development experience in the developed countries have showed that the gentrified community could become a tourist destination or the travel destination could become a gentrified community,then the phenomenon of rural tourism and gentrification would be interacted and mutually promote regional development.Maybe this model could become the new path for the Rural Renaissance in China.The Huashu village has experienced three periods of development,including the rural environment improvement,the immigration of rural gentlemen and the leaving of indigenous inhabitants,as well as the renewal of the material space.There are some different characteristics from developed countries,including the demographic characteristics of gentlemen,the purpose of immigration,the pushing and drawing force of immigration and the characteristics of the migration process.Secondly,the article explores the interactive process and dynamic mechanism.The interaction of rural tourism and rural gentrification includes the influence of rural tourism to rural gentrification and the effect of rural gentrification on the development of rural tourism.The former has two expressions.On the one hand,the development of rural tourism promotes two stages of rural gentrification.On the other hand,the development of tourism attracts middle-class tourists.The arrival of new group and the repairing of material space have become the tourism attraction,while the removal of original residents living around the landscape node also helps to maintain the integrity of rural landscape.In the process,the external driving force is the demand of short-haul leisure activities for urban residents demand,as well as beautiful rural construction and financial support.The internal driving force are government's leading role and the active participation of all groups.Compared with the west countries,tourism development in Huashu has not yet to make the village become a gathering place for middle class,the missing of the second stage of immigration for gentlemen from city makes the rural gentrification immature.In addition,in western countries,the development of tourism mainly depends on the force of market and social capital plays a great role in promoting the regional tourism development while in Huashu the government invested more in the whole process.From peasant-household pattern to the scenic spot pattern then to the rural coordinated development pattern between tourism and rural gentrification,the interaction of all kinds of elements between urban and rural areas is continuously strengthening.In the process of coordinated development,the urban elements penetrate into the countryside and form the new tourist attraction to interact with the urban elements,and it is the higher level for the integration of urban and rural.In fact,there are many social contradictions in the development of rural gentrification in western countries,including the concerns of local residents to the natural environment caused by the large scale of real estate development,the bad impact to the original community recognition due to the immigration of city residents,different consumption idea and consumption ability between indigenous inhabitants and the new groups,the phenomenon of "bedroom town" because of the second house,as well as the contradiction of different land use caused by the various lifestyle.ForHuashu village,it is important to balance the development and protection;it is also significant to coordinate interests of different groups.Facing the current problems and drawing lessons from the western countries,the article puts forward several strategies for Huashu.The village should keep some villagers and part of the agriculture appropriately and coordinate relationship between the gentleman groups and social capital.Then to demonstrate population carrying capacity and tourism carrying capacity of the country,avoid excessive privatization of quality space.At last,the village needs to promote the advancement of rural gentrification patiently and orderly to form the sustainable competitiveness.
