Many rural communities view tourism as an economic development strategy, which can advance the regulation of industrial structures and improve the living conditions either inside our nation or outside. Gone with the exploiture of many tourism resources in various area, at present, a lot of remote rural communities have been brought into the area coverages which are experienced the tourism development and planning. As a result of tourism industry development, many kinds of impacts are imported into the large number of rural communities. They embody and infiltrate through various facets, such as economic, cultural and environmental facets in communities. Before actualized the tourism development, to a great extent, many rural communities had their laboring spaces and income sources by means of traditional agriculture and planting. There is an objective fact that tourism development provides them an opportunity to change the working circumstances, increase the economic incomes, improve the living conditions, and accelerate the communities' progresses. It is sure enough.In this paper, the researchful subject is to confirm which attitude the rural communities' residents living in the tourism development area have. The author considers that the rural communities which are really seated within the tourism development area or all around it may have the most legible realizations on a variety of conflicts and influences. So it has the definite representative meaning to choose this type of rural community to be investigated and researched. Basing on such consideration, the author selected two villages named Wukeshu and Xiaoqing, which are closest to the Shilin scenic spot that is well-known in Yunnan province, as two cases to be investigated and researched. At the local area, the author finishedthe collection of background datas, and also accomplished the distribution and the callback of questionnaires.In order to obtain the more significative conclusions, the author partitioned the study course into several contents to discuss, that is what included the discussion of investigative objects about the physical geography and social science conditions, the discussion about tourism impacts, the investigation and discussion of residents about the acceptability of tourism development options, the investigation and discussion of residents about the differences in attitudes toward tourism by community, and so on. By comparative analysis, the author finally educed a series of conclusions. Some of these conclusions were not occurred to the author before. In the more idiographic manner of speaking, the conclusions can be summarized into the following points. Firstly, the residents, even living in these two communities which have extremely short distances and almost the same type of characters, have the different options for various kinds of development on tourism products and the different attitudes toward tourism development. The causes may be that the residents have the realizations on tourism impacts and the involvements in tourism trades to the diverse range and degree; Secondly, there is a certain relationship between the realizations of rural communities' residents on tourism impacts, whether the residents are involved in or benefited from the tourism development or not, and the options for various kinds of tourism products and the attitudes toward tourism development. The foregoing two aspects may determine which kind of attitude the residents have; Thirdly, although the residents of rural communities have realized a variety of negative impacts brought from tourism development in a lot of way, they still insist on the positive attitudes.Besides, the author also gains some additional fruits in the process of investigation and discussion. For example, combining with the developing states of rural communities, the tourism development in Shilin has emerged the more important function, that it has reduced the amount of countrymen who were directly at work on agriculture and the whole industrial structures in this area...
