Research On Network Political Participation In China

The mid-twentieth century witnessed one of the greatest inventions in the human history--the Internet.With the rapid development of social productive forces and the continuous improvement of the citizens' ability to manage information,beyond the dissemination of information,the Internet has effected profound changes in all aspects of society.When the Internet has gradually penetrated into the political sphere,political participation in the virtual reality has come into existence.Political participation is not only a hot field of modern political research,but also an important part of the development of democratic politics.The political participation in the virtual reality,different from the traditional political involvement,with the new features brought about by the Internet,has gradually been regarded as the basic form of modern democracy.Political participation in the virtual reality not only broadens the traditional path of citizen participation,but also draws the public's attention because of its high efficiency and convenience,real-time interaction,cheap stability and other characteristics.This form of political participation has become an important way for citizens to communicate with each other,expressing and coordinating the interests of many parties.It has also become a new channel for the government to understand public opinions,and govern society.Therefore,the study of political participation in the virtual reality which is conducive to our democratic politics developing steadily and soundly,has long-term and profound significance for the settlement of the political problems in the future.This paper,focuses on the political participation in the virtual reality,analyzing the virtual network and the convergence of the two paths to political participation,in light of the current research into the domestic and international network political participation,Different stages of the Internet development are covered,staring from the middle of the twentieth century since the beginning of China's network of political development,case studies serving as a supplementary tool.The paper,which employs such theories as network political participation and network empowerment,attempts to find the logic behind the institutionalized political participation in China.This paper consists of four chapters.The first chapter mainly elaborates the connotation and characteristics of the political participation in the virtual reality and makes a comparative analysis.The second chapter analyzes the developmental stages and the factors which contribute to the emergence of network political participation in virtual reality in China,supplemented by case studies regarding institutionalized and non-institutionalized network political participation,in an attempt to grasp the development status of network politics in a more comprehensive way.The third chapter mainly focuses on the current difficulties and causes of the political participation in China,with the plight in the political participation discussed at some length,The fourth chapter is a tentative solution to breaking through the dilemma and promoting the continuous development of the network politics in China.
