Under the background of population aging, with the loss of young and middle-aged labor force, the phenomenon of rural hollowing is serious. This has led to an increasingly prominent problem of the elderly living alone in empty nests. The problem of elderly people living alone in rural areas has become an increasingly serious social problem.Compared with the urban elderly, the source of income for the rural elderly is even weaker, and the medical services available to them are even worse.Compared with non-living elderly people, elderly people who live alone lack the family's daily care and emotional support. The elderly living alone in rural areas have two disadvantaged factors, rural and single-living,and are disadvantaged groups that need more attention and support from the society.Studying the social support status of rural elderly living alone can not only better grasp the old-age needs and social support of rural elderly living alone, but also can cause The community cares and supports the elderly living alone in rural areas, raising the welfare of the elderly living alone, and maintaining social stability and harmony. This article takes the elderly living alone in rural G township of Xinyang City in Henan Province as the research object, and analyzes the rural old-age society for rural elderly living alone in three aspects: economic support, life care support and spiritual comfort support,as well as formal support and informal support.Supporting the status quo: With regard to economic support, elderly people who live alone have a certain economic foundation, but their economic capabilities are weaker;the economic sources of elderly people living alone in rural areas are diversified;their children's economic support for rural elderly living alone is limited. With regard to support for life care, the physical quality of elderly people living alone in rural areas is gradually declining, and chronic diseases are frequent;formal social support is limited in the care of the elderly living alone;the lack of child care in informal care support is relatively lacking, with neighborhoods and relatives as the mainstay. In terms of spiritualcomfort and support, the spiritual and cultural life of the elderly living alone in rural areas is relatively simple;informal spiritual support based on children is the mainstay;and the community's formal support for the mental comfort of elderly people living alone is limited. The reason is that from the economic support point of view, the basic level of rural endowment insurance is low,the children's economic pressure is large, and the limited capacity is the main reason;from the point of view of life care support, rural aged care services are generally weak, children have limited time, and lack of care. From the perspective of spiritual comfort support, the elderly have a low level of social participation, serious discrimination against older people, and insufficient care for their children.Based on this, this paper proposes to build a social support system for single elderly people with government, family, community, and society as the main body,so as to better meet the needs of rural elderly living alone and improve the rural social security system.
