The Malvinas War between Britain and Argentina in 1982 is always a very important theme in the academic world.Studies on the topic in China and abroad focus more on the military aspect, not too much on the foreign policy decision making concerning it.And some studies just care about the two disputing countries, and few about the foreign policy decision of the United States. The United States plays a key role in this crisis from the beginning to the end.Considering the position in the west,Superpower status, the background of the Cold war and the mutual relationships with Britain and Argentina,U.S.can't keep out of the affair.Since Monroe Doctrine,U.S.has been putting the Latin American countries in a very important position where it is not tolerable that the outside countries especially the European countries have a finger in the pie. After the World War II,America becomes the most powerful country in the world, and its ability of affecting the global affairs especially in Latin America is undoubted. The book Essence of Decision: Explaining the Cuban Missile Crisis written by Graham T.Allison is one of the most famous classics in the international relations studies. The book is aimed to state the process and essence of the U.S.government decision using the example of the Cuban missile crisis. The book uses three-models theory(rational actor model, organizational behavior model and governmental politics model)to explain the Cuban missile crisis and checks the analytical ability and the limitation of the three-models theory.According to the FRUS,this article analyzes the U.S.foreign policy decision process in Malvinas War using the three-models theory and concludes that: the foreign policy decision making of the United States during the Malvinas War is consistent with the rational actor model and governmental politics model, but not exactly be consistent with the organizational behavior model.
