For a long period of time,the concept of "sport is outside politics" was dominated due to the founder of the modern Olympic movement,Pierre de Coubertin.At the same time,however,he recognized the possibility of using sports to solve important political problems,but nevertheless believed that all political influence on the Olympic movement should be eliminated,that this movement should strive to maintain its independence and independence from politics,and politics itself should not interfere in the Olympic movement.This paper examines the impact of the Sochi Winter Olympic Games 2014 on changing Russia's image at the world stage,changing the reputation of the country and its perception in the world.In this paper such goals were achieved,as determination of the nature of mutual penetration and the main points of conjugation of the spheres of professional sports and international politics;the definition of the reason why the city of Sochi was chosen as the capital of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia;assessment of the way how the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi 2014 influenced the change in the image of the Russian Federation in the international arena;definition of how Olympic Games 2014 affected diplomacy of Russia:determination of how the Olympics influenced the development of the country and the southern region in particular;the impact of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics on such factors of the development of the southern region of the country as the ecology,economy,cultural heritage of the country,infrastructure and recreational facilities.
