The Research Of Religious Practice Of Chinese Overseas In Mandalay

The subject of the thesis is the religious practice of Chinese overseas in Mandalay,is intended to explore the relationship between religion and society from the perspective of Chinese overseas religious practices of Mandalay.Specifically,this paper based on the analysis of the immigrant history of Chinese overseas,Myanmar Buddhist culture and political environment,through the display of religious practice to explore how the Chinese overseas in mandalay use the knowledge of Myanmar Buddhist culture to interact with the local community and fight for a better living environment for their development,exploring how the Chinese overseas in Mandalay understand their own social environment.This paper analyzes the Chinese overseas in Mandalay on two main parts: the practices of traditional religions and the practice of Theravada Buddhism.In the chapter of introduction,author will introduce the reason why i choose this topic,and the overview of fieldwork,ang research methods.In the chapter one,the main task of the author is clearly explained the history and the social situation of Chinese overseas in Mandalay.This chapter suggests that immigration history of Chinese overseas in Mandalay,Myanmar Buddhist culture and Buddhist nationalism,the political environment are important background to kown Chinese overseas religious practices.Writing this chapter is to pave the way for understanding the religious practice of Chinese overseas in Mandalay.The chapter two describes the traditional religious practice of chinese overseas in mandelay.Traditional religious practice is maintaining the cultural differences of Chinese ethnic group,and the Chinese overseas are not assimilated.The third and fourth chapter are the analysis of practices of Theravada Buddhism of overseas Chinese in Mandalay.The chapter three analyzes Chinese overseas community in Mandalay how to apply knowledge about Theravada Buddhism to maintain their living environment.The practice of Theravada Buddhism of Chinese Overseas community is an action that using Myanmar Buddhist culture to strive for differences in ethnic culture and integration into mainstream society.In the chapter four,the author mainly from the perspective of families and individuals toexplore this issue.Chinese overseas neither completely under the mercy of Myanmar society,nor entirely as they wish without the influence of Myanmar society.Through interpretation of the religious practices of the Chinese overseas,to show how the Chinese overseas use their initiative under the constraints of the existing structure.Chinese overseas neither fully assimilated,nor completely free from the constraints of Myanmar society,of which is the result of the interaction of structure and subjective initiative.This study focus on religious practice,because the author want to explored the religion life of chinese overseas from a dimension of Non-spiritual.Religion does not exist in isolation from society,the Chinese overseas religious practices is not only a problem of faith,it is the question of survival.I concern is how Chinese overseas in mandelay to use the religious knowledge to construct and interpretative understanding of self meaning in their lives.
