At present,China is in the critical period of social transformation, and new stratum groups are emerging constantly. Many researchers pointed out that the ideal social structure in China is "Olive type" which is dominated by the middle class. This ideal design is based on the strong belief of the middle class's positive functions;that is to say,the middle class is the "stabilizer" of society. On this point of view, this thesis holds that the middle class in different counties or in a country at different times has different political attitudes. This thesis therefore introduces the perspective of social change, and divides the middle class in the transitional period into five groups:the old middle class, the middle and small micro-entrepreneur stratum, the new middle class, the marginal middle class, the special middle class. Then it expounds how the subgroups of the middle class at different times after the reform and opening-up was formed, and analyzes their political attitudes from the forming process of the subgroups and the nature of the group personnel. The basic conclusion of the thesis is that Chinese middle class has experienced emergence, growth, and further division and combination since the reform and opening-up.In the past,Chinese middle class usually played a part as the "stabilizer",and had wobbliness at the same time. Then the middle class in the transitional period turns to express interest with a rational and critical attitude, and favor defending stability overall. That embodies the constant maturity and rationalization of the Chinese middle class's political attitudes in the transitional period.
