| Since the late 19th century,the tribute system between Late Qing and Korea was increasingly impacted by western powers and Japan.Qing government,from the national defense angle,was taking a variety of active respondings instead of non-interventionism.To prevent Korea from the invasion of Japan,Qing government persuaded Korea to open ports,station military of Late Qing even sent governmental minister to control Korea directly.All the policies mentioned above were made to resist foreign aggressions and maintain the traditional tribute system.However,the new strategy had not been implemented rationally,caused the Qing government falling into a passive position gradually and strategy failed in the end.This paper is divided into six parts,makes a further approach to the“Internationalization”strategy of Late Qing towards Korea during 1876-1895:The first part is introduction,mainly about backgrounds of the research,research significances,literature reviews and the structure of this paper.Chapter one traces back to the history of“Internationalization”theory and diplomatic choices that weak nations can make for that.Chapter two explores factors that accounting for“Internationalization”strategy of Late Qing towards Korea.Chapter three is the main focus,which explores the bring-forths,implements,adjustments and the corruption of the strategy,to reveal the“Positivity→Passivity”transition.Chapter four is mainly about assessments of the strategy.The last part draws a conclusion on the whole paper. |
