"Confucian Personality":The Image And Approach Of Individualization In Chinese Society

The “Confucian Personality” group is a companion of urbanization and modernization who play an important role In the process of social development.They does not married,live alone,pay attention to their own feelings,and have a strong sense of themselves.They are the inevitable consequences and important manifestations of modern society's individualization.Based on the field observation and text analysis in the previous period,the paper adopted the sampling method of rolling snowballs,and through semi-structured interviews with 20 “Confucian Personality” in Beijing and Shanghai's two first-tier cities,Taking "De-embedded-De-stabilization-reintegration" as the Individualization Process as a Perspective and Theoretical Tool.It examines the lifestyle characteristics of this group,presents the individual lifestyle view of“Confucian Personality”,and attempts to reveal the theoretical characteristics of individualized society in China.The study finds that “Confucian Personality” presents characteristics of kite-like decoupling from affinities,institutional associations with affiliation groups,and integration of interest-related groups at the level of social relations;it reflects individual bachelorism and matrimonial love orientation at the level of individual concepts.The dimension of individual existence embodies the appearance of self-consumption and virtual space dependence.Further analysis found that the individualized life of the empty nest youth has duality of spiritual independence and economic dependence,individual absence of public affairs,economic discourse and individual implication of self-reconstruction and identity pursuit.The individualization of Western society eventually led to the development of individual development and the pursuit of self-development.However,the life of Confucian Personality in China reflects the individualized predicament of explicit and implicit exclusion,lack of public space,and collective anxiety and deprivation.This kind of predicament is related to national factors such as the lack of preconditions for individualization in China,the absence of reintegration dimensions,and the rapid development of cyber society.Through research,it has been found that the path of the individualized society reflected by the Confucian Personality in China and the theory of the individualized social process in the West already have a certain part that also reflects the tension.Theindividualized social changes in Chinese society is a complex development process in which the modernization at the national level and globalization at the international level are mutually integrated.The realistic characteristics of the individualization of Chinese society put forward new tasks for contemporary sociology.
