Since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties in 1995,the U.S.-Vietnam relations gradually emerged from the negative impact of the Cold War and began to develop in an orderly way. However, with the simultaneous advancement of the struggle and cooperation, the U.S.-Vietnam relations had continued in a tepid state.Until the Obama administration came to power, such relationship reached an ‘inflection point',rapid development and high profile cooperation are the main features of this period. In the meantime, problems get much worse than before, and the game was more intense. These situations contrasted sharply with the past. Therefore, this article will focus on the U.S.-Vietnam relations under the Obama administration. This study shows that the U.S.-Vietnam relations have achieved all-round advancement under the Obama administration,in which the military relationship is the most prominent part. This result was caused by the adjustment of the America's Asia-Pacific strategy, the continuous debugging of Vietnam's national strategy, the promotion of these key forces of the two countries, and the influence of China and Russia as important third-party forces. At the same time, the U.S.-Vietnam relations also appeared some problems under the Obama administration, which caused by the impact of the great disparity in comprehensive strength, the lack of the common strategic interests and the differences in social system and ideology. These negative factors had put more pressure on the bilateral relations. In order to alleviate the pressure, both countries have their own tactics. As one of the main goals of the development of the U.S.-Vietnam relations under the Obama administration is to deal with the rise of China,it's particularly necessary to examine the influence and enlightenment on China.I think the United States and Vietnam accelerated their cooperation in order to contain China, which led China to face more diplomatic challenges and was putted in a worsening surrounding environment. In addition,China can also learn some lessons from the U.S.-Vietnam relations under the Obama administration.Such as grasp the international situation accurately, improve the national power, implement maritime strategy, and so on.All in all,the U.S.-Vietnam relations under the Obama administration were different from the past.It was already at the forefront of in-depth development. This provides references for predicting the future of the U.S.-Vietnam relations, and China can also adjust its strategies in time.
