Research On The Problems And Countermeasures Of Social Support For The Disabled Elderly Families In Rural Areas

Under the social trend of population aging and family miniaturization,the problem of old-age care has attracted more and more attention.There are a large number of elderly disabled people in China.and about 3/4 of them live in rural areas,who have multiple vulnerable identities such as farmers,the disabled and the elderly.These people need more social support because their minimum standard of living and old-age care are facing severe challenges.From the perspective of developmental family policy,this paper makes a comprehensive analysis of social support for elderly disabled families in rural areas.It carries on an objective introduction of the current situation and existing problems.and it provides some directional suggestions for the establishment and development of the family social support policy for elderly disabled people in China on the basis of learning from welfare state.Based on the in-depth interview data collection method,the author interviewed elderly disabled families(disabled persons and other family members)and disabled workers in rural areas.The analysis of the interview results shows that the majority of the elderly disabled are empty nest/solitary elderly,the phenomenon of "A family with multiple disabled people "is obvious in this families,and family life is generally difficult.Therefore,the government,the community and primary social group organizations have carried out a number of formal and informal support activities to solve these family livelihood problems to a certain extent.However,compared with the orderly family policy practices in western developed countries,China's current family support policies are scattered,and there are various problems that need to be reformed and developed:(1)the policies are fragmented seriously,and the efficiency and effect of policy implementation are poor;(2)it is difficult to form a multi-service system and the level of support is limited;(3)the low level of service supply cannot meet individual needs.Finally,in order to improve the social support mechanism for the elderly disabled in rural China,we should take the developmental family policy as the theoretical basis,construct the family-centered social support network,and establish a coherent and effective policy system.Only by ensuring clear objectives,reasonable policies and effective measures can we solve the social problems of the rural disabled elderly and their families,and better realize the goal of family social support.
