The Study Of Rural Disabled Elderly Family Support From The Perspective Of Intergenerational Relations

Under the social background of the increasing scale of the disabled elderly in rural areas,the imbalance of intergenerational relations and the increasingly weakening of family pension function,there are lots of difficulties about the family support for the disabled elderly in rural areas.So,in this paper,it is of practical significance to discuss the family support for the disabled elderly in rural areas.Through the literature review,we find that the current research on disabled elderly is mainly focused on the disabled elderly in the city and can not go deep into the disabled elderly in rural areas.Meanwhile,it investigates the research on family pension from the intergenerational relations,and it mainly concern two factors of “exchange of mutual benefit” and “filial piety”.And the current research thinks that imbalances of intergenerational exchange and the decline of filial piety values affect the realization of the function of family pension.Therefore,current problems include two aspects: one is that research of the rural disabled elderly family pension is a lack;two is that to research on intergenerational relations control of family pension,the lack of complete grasp about constraints on the intergenerational relations.The paper use sociology’s theory of structure function to grasps the intergenerational family support of the disabled elderly in rural areas,according to the analysis framework of the AGIL four elements analysis.And it grasps from four aspects “reciprocity,personality consensus,rights and obligations and the values and make the following assumptions: In pension issues of disabled elderly about the family members of rural disabled elderly,if reciprocity is more realized in the interests,a consensus is more reached in endowment goal,means and the standard of evaluation of the pension results,the rights and obligations is more fair,the values of providing for the aged is more sharing between generations,then intergenerational relations of disabled elderly family is more harmonious,the effect of family endowment of disabled elderly is better.Meanwhile,this paper collect the first hand information of family pension of disabled elderly in village B,using field research,selecting village B of Enshi City in Hubei province as the research site and using interviews and observation method.Meanwhile data is analyzed using content analysis and inductive analysisThis paper consists of six chapters.The first chapter introduces the basic situation of family support for the disabled elderly in B village.From the second chapter to the fifth chapter,the text examines “the reciprocity between parent and offspring” in the process of family support for the disabled elderly,“the consensus about support goal,support way and evaluation criterion of support results between the offspring and the parental ”,“the equality of rights and obligations between the offspring and the parental” and “the sharing of values between the offspring and the parental” in the family support of disabled elderly.The sixth chapter based on the above investigation,points out the problems existing in the process of family support for the disabled elderly in B village,and tries to put forward some measures to solve the problems of family support for the disabled elderly.The study found,the main problems of family support for the disabled elderly in B village include: 1.It lacks intergenerational reciprocity.The pay about labor and emotional that parent is for offspring,did not get the corresponding return.2.It lacks equality of rights and obligations between generations.Filial generation assume less obligation than parental generation and enjoy more rights than parental generation.And the reason is the lack of consensus between generations.Due to the lack of consensus for pension target,pension means and pension result evaluation criteria between generations,it causes that filial generation ignore the plight of disabled elderly in the process of providing for the aged.Among them,the deeper reason is that there is a lack of shared values between generations,and the problem of the concept determines the lack of consensus among generations.Aiming at the above problems,in order to improve family pension of the disabled elderly,we can get the improvement from two levels: First,through the construction of village filial piety cultural values,we can realize the sharing of filial piety cultural values in the village between generations;Second,with the help of grass-roots government,village committees and social welfare organizations related village,we can reach consensus on the pension goal,pension means and evaluation criteria for pension result for the family support of the disabled elderly between generations.
