In the six years since President Xi Jinping proposed the construction of "Belt and Road Initiative," cooperation between China and countries along the Belt and Road has been deepened and a series of major cooperation projects have been born on the ground.Sino-Thai relations have always been a model of good-neighborly friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation among countries with different social systems.In the context of Sino-Thai friendly cooperation,Since its proposal and implementation,the construction of "Belt and Road Initiative" has achieved many fruitful results in Thailand: the continuous improvement of infrastructure,the continuous growth of investment quotas,and the continuous expansion of areas of cooperation.However,there are both cooperation and challenges in the construction of "Belt and Road Initiative" between China and Thailand.Throughout the history of Thailand,Thailand is a country full of contradictions and struggles but strange.For a long time,the political situation of Thailand has been in a very unstable state,which brings certain political risks to the implementation of "Belt and Road Initiative".First of all,the domestic political situation in Thailand is volatile.Throughout the political development in Thailand,there is a periodic political turmoil in which soldiers take office alternately with democratically elected governments,and there are many political parties and fierce struggle.In the spring general election in 2019,Thailand's new king took part in the country's politics,participated in the general election and suppressed the opposition parties and Thaksin.In fact,he is supporting the Prayuth government,which has also aroused the anger of the local people,which is likely to lead to an outbreak of civil strife in Thailand.Secondly,the political risks such as the frequent local terrorism and the fierce game among the great powers caused by Thailand's unique geographical location will undoubtedly affect the confidence of Chinese enterprises to invest in Thailand.This has caused investors to stop investing in Thailand or choose to wait and see,which has brought great uncertainty to the implementation of China's "Belt and Road Initiative" construction in Thailand,and many projects,especially large-scale investment projects,have been approved for along period of time.Some projects have been inconclusive for several years,and the procedures are complicated.Therefore,Chinese enterprises should fully predict the political risks of Thailand before investing in Thailand.There are three main aspects to analyze the root causes of the political risks faced by "Belt and Road Initiative" in the cooperation between China and Thailand.The first is the internal factors of Thailand,the main factors include the lack of domestic political stability,the intensification of terrorist activities,the uniqueness of strategic position and other factors,resulting in the uncertainty of the loss of economic interests of Chinese enterprises.Second,the political risk caused by international factors to "Belt and Road Initiative" in Thailand mainly includes the negative influence of "China threat theory" and the restriction of big country game on the formulation and implementation of Thai government "Belt and Road Initiative" cooperation policy.Third,China's domestic constraints,there are domestic risk assessment and prediction mechanism is not perfect,the breadth and depth of media publicity in Thailand is limited,some enterprises lack of awareness of social responsibility and other factors.In order to better promote the implementation of the "Belt and Road Initiative" construction in Thailand.On the basis of fully studying the political risks and root causes of Thailand,we will formulate appropriate countermeasures,strengthen the establishment of mechanisms for Sino-Thai bilateral relations and people-to-people exchanges,establish a mechanism for high-level dialogue,increase confidence and resolve doubts,enhance political mutual trust,and build consensus.In response to terrorism,it is necessary to establish a mechanism for counter-terrorism cooperation as soon as possible,safeguard the country's peripheral security,and strengthen "policy communication,facility connectivity,smooth trade,financial integration,and people-to-people connectivity" between China and Thailand,so as to promote friendly cooperation between China and Thailand.Win-win results,timely response to the threat of foreign powers,timely strategic dialogue and exchanges with other countries In 2004,we should strengthen policy coordination among countries and rationally deal with frictions among the major powers.
