The Six-Day War is the third large-scale armed War between Arab and Israeli which ended with a complete failure of Arab States and a great victory of Israel. The failure of the Arab side can be attributed not only to Israel's full preparation, but also to the impacts of the United States and the Soviet Union. However, the root cause of Arab failure lies in the defects of them. The Six-Day War had a profound influence on Arab States. The Arab states have lost a great deal of territory which hurt the feelings of the Arabs.Politically, the war directly impacted the political situation of the Arab States which led by Egypt.A Dramatic turn happened in Egypt that the President Nasser resigned and was reinstated soon, but the failure of the war seriously damaged his health. The massive influx of Palestine refugees and Palestine Liberation Organization activities in Jordan led to the tragedy of the Jordan-Palestine conflict. The regime changed in Syria and Asad came on the political stage. The war is a tragedy for the Palestinians who have lost their national homeland. Some Palestinians become refugees, others were forced to accept the rule of Israel. In the terms of military, the war caused enormous damage to Egypt,Jordan and Syria. The recovery and construction of military forces in Arab States is based on the lessons that learned from the Six-Day war.The imported weapons were more advanced and the number of weapons was largely increased. The military system had been restructured and changed reasonably. The relation between Generals and soldiers was harmonious which was tested in local conflict with Israel. What's more, confidence of Arab States had been regained. These are the capital for victory in the prophase of the “October War”.In the terms of economy,Egypt,Jordan and Syria had suffered varying degrees of destruction. Some pillar industries were seriously damaged in Egypt and Jordan, such as agricultural output, industrial output, oil, tourism and so on.Syria and Lebanon also severely affected. In the terms of psychology, the Six-Day war left a huge psychological shadow on the Arabs. After the war,the defeated Arab States were outraged, and their hatred for Israel was further deepened. The Arabs took the Six-Day war as national humiliation, which has gradually became a trend in the Arab world. No matter how long it takes and what results it will be in the future, the Arabs believe that they must avenge themselves. After the Six-Day war,Arab States adjusted their foreign relations. The relations between Egypt and great powers had taken a major turn, and the external relations of Jordan and Syria had also undergone some adjustments and changes.Arab States led by Egypt had gradually realized that it is difficult for any of them to regain itslost territory and they must unite. So the relations between Arab States showed a cooperative situation. The Six-Day War has two fundamental effects on the Arab States.First, the Arabs have ignited the national sentiment of regaining lost ground, washing national shame, and moving toward unity and preparing for war. This is the background of the outbreak of the "October War".Second, the large-scale Arab territories occupied by Israel in this war,Palestine refugees,Jerusalem and other issues have become a new contradictory focus point in the Arab-Israel relations — a key problem in the Middle East peace process.
